Initially, Engels factory was founded in 1942 for production of ceramics military parts. From 1950s the plant was redesigned and began producing automotive spark plugs. In addition, other ceramic products such as insulators and household ceramics were produced. In the 90s, when Russia was experiencing economic crisis, to save existing production, the company’s management sold the plant to Bosch group. From that point, the plant went through reconstruction and a major clean-up, including removal of contaminated soil. As result the plant became a modern industrial and ecological park. New production lines are developed, new buildings are constructed and new manufacturing capabilities are developed.
